Northern Nevada Jr. Golf Association Competitive Golf for Jr Golfers Age 7-18 Home

          The TOC is our year-end championship to crown the overall champion per age group. Those players during the season that finish in 1st thru 3rd place within each age group will be invited. Family members are also invited to attend this event that includes and awards banquet and dinner. Players must compete in 3 events to be eligible. Held at Dayton Valley Golf & Country Club.

Nevada State Jr

Two day 36-Hole competition held between the Northern and Southern Nevada Junior Golf Associations to crown the best junior golfer in the state. 2017 Nevada State Jr. Championship will be held at Eagle Valley GC.

OPEN TO LEVEL 3 PLAYERS ONLY.

INVITATION ONLY - Players must compete in a qualifier event to be announced.

Selections will be based on lowest stroke score for the qualifier (two day event)

Overall accomplishments, attitude and conduct are taken into consideration when making selections.

    The Boys' and Girls' Junior America's Cup Team Matches are the showcase team events in the western portion of the country for boys and girls, ages 18 and under. The tournament features seventeen association teams from eleven western states, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico. Representing each association are four junior boys and four junior girls. Team members exemplify not only outstanding skill, but also true sportsmanship, discipline, courtesy and character. The tournament passes to a different host association each year.

    Each year we provide an opportunity for members to qualify for teams representing the NNJGA at tournaments held all over the west coast including Hawaii, Mexico, and Canada. The NNJGA sends teams annually to compete at the national events for the Boys Junior America’s Cup, Girls Junior America’s Cup, and the Eddie Hogan Cup Matches. By making one of these teams the junior golfer has the opportunity to be seen by college coaches and possible be selected for golf scholarships as they prepare for college. There is a travel team expense per player/per event for these events.

The IMG Junior World Golf Championship is truly unique with a total field size exceeding 1000 golfers from and impressive number of countries and states. The NNJGA hosts two qualifiers for this event

    The Hogan Cup 36-hole team matches pit the best junior boy golfers from the Western United States and Canada against each other in a team format with the three lowest scores each day determining the team total. Medals are awarded to the top three teams as well as the top three individuals in the field.

    Being selected to compete in Hogan Cup matches is an honor that has been bestowed to few individuals, and the excellence of past participants is indicative of the quality of the small, select field.

About the Optimist

International Junior Golf Championships

The Optimist International Junior Golf Championships is one of the largest and best-known junior golf tournaments in the world. Each year, more than 600 golfers participate in THE OPTIMIST. Optimists have been involved in the sport of junior golf for more than 30 years by holding local, regional and international tournaments. More than 5,000 golfers compete in official Optimist District qualifying tournaments. The best of these golfers, along with international golfers from around the globe, advance to the annual Optimist International Junior Golf Championships. Former champions and top finishers of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships include Beth Bauer, Jonathan Byrd, Jason Day, Bill Haas, Brittany Lincicome, Jeff Overton, Stacy Prammanasudh and Jennifer Rosales.
